Hosea 2:6



Hosea 2:6

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

1. “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns…”

1). Carl Friedrich Keil and Franz Delitzsh Commentary: The hedging up of the way, strengthened by the similar figure of the building of a wall to cut off the way, denotes her transportation into a situation in which she could no longer continue her adultery with the idols.

e. with thorns [Strong: 5518 * ciyr seer or (feminine) ciyrah {see-raw'}; or cirah (Jeremiah 52:18) {see-raw'}; from a primitive root meaning to boil up; a pot; also a thorn (as springing up rapidly); by implication, a hook:--caldron, fishhook, pan, ((wash-))pot, thorn.]
