Hosea 2:17



Hosea 2:17

For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

a. NLT: O Israel, I will wipe the many names of Baal from your lips, and you will never mention them again.

b. NIV: I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked.

c. YLT: And I have turned aside the names of the lords from her mouth, And they are not remembered any more by their name.

d. Amplified Bible Classic: For I will take away the names of Baalim [the Baals] out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned or seriously remembered by their name.

1. “For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth…”

a. c. of Baalim [Strong: 1168 * Ba`al bah'-al the same as 1167; Baal, a Phoenician deity:--Baal, (plural) Baalim.]

d. out of her mouth [Strong: 6310 * peh peh from 6284; the mouth (as the means of blowing), whether literal or figurative (particularly speech); specifically edge, portion or side; adverbially (with preposition) according to:--accord(-ing as, -ing to), after, appointment, assent, collar, command(-ment), X eat, edge, end, entry, + file, hole, X in, mind, mouth, part, portion, X (should) say(-ing), sentence, skirt, sound, speech, X spoken, talk, tenor, X to, + two-edged, wish, word.]

2. “…and they shall no more be remembered by their name.”
