Job 42:1

Job 42:1

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

a. ASV: Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,

b. YLT: And Job answereth Jehovah and saith: —

c. Classic Amplified: Then Job said to the Lord,

d. Septuagint: Then Job answered and said to the Lord,

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/ Writings: Job then responded to HASHEM, and said:

1. “Then Job answered the LORD, and said,”

a. [Then] Job [Strong: 347 'Iyowb ee-yobe' from 340; hated (i.e. persecuted); Ijob, the patriarch famous for his patience:--Job.]

b. answered [Strong: 6030 `anah aw-naw' a primitive root; properly, to eye or (generally) to heed, i.e. pay attention; by implication, to respond; by extens. to begin to speak; specifically to sing, shout, testify, announce:--give account, afflict (by mistake for 6031), (cause to, give) answer, bring low (by mistake for 6031), cry, hear, Leannoth, lift up, say, X scholar, (give a) shout, sing (together by course), speak, testify, utter, (bear) witness. See also 1042, 1043.]

c. [Strong: 853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).]

d. [the] LORD [Strong: 3068 Yhovah yeh-ho-vaw' from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

e. [and] said [Strong: 559 'amar aw-mar' a primitive root; to say (used with great latitude):--answer, appoint, avouch, bid, boast self, call, certify, challenge, charge, + (at the, give) command(-ment), commune, consider, declare, demand, X desire, determine, X expressly, X indeed, X intend, name, X plainly, promise, publish, report, require, say, speak (against, of), X still, X suppose, talk, tell, term, X that is, X think, use (speech), utter, X verily, X yet.]

1). The LORD appeared, and spoke out of the whirlwind and spoke to Job chapters 38-41. We pick up after God has spoken to Job all these wonderful things about creation. The next 5 verses reveal that Job has had a revelation of the awesomeness of God.
