And he went up from thence to Beersheba.

1. “And he went up from thence to Beersheba.”

a. 1). Isaac went to up to Beersheba, where his father lived. At the time when God spoke to Abraham to offer up Isaac, Abraham lived at Beersheba. And had been living there a long time. The scripture uses the language “many days”.

a). Genesis 21:33, 34   And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God.

21:34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.

2). After Abraham returned from Mt. Moriah with Isaac he returned to Beersheba.

a). Genesis 22:19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

3). When Sarah died, she was living at Kirjath-arba which is Hebron, and Abraham had to come from somewhere else to mourn for her. He was probably living in Beersheba.

a). Genesis 23:1, 2  And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.

23:2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
