Deuteronomy 18:10
There shall not be
found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the
fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a
witch,
a. NLT: For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt
offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery,
or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft,
b. NIV: Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or
daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens,
engages in witchcraft,

to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an

divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,”

1). There are four occult practices mentioned in this verse and they are
all Canaanite in their origin.
