1. “I have set the LORD always before me…”
a. I have set [Strong: 7737 shâvâh, shaw-vaw'; a primitive root; properly, to level, i.e. equalize; figuratively, to resemble; by implication, to adjust (i.e. counterbalance, be suitable, compose, place, yield, etc.):—avail, behave, bring forth, compare, countervail, (be, make) equal, lay, be (make, a-) like, make plain, profit, reckon.]
1). The Septuagint uses the words “I foresaw” and when Peter quoted the verse he used the Septuagint translation. One definition of this word is “reckon”.
a). Isaiah 38:13 I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
2). As a result I have mostly linked this word to meditation, especially in light of the previous verse, Psalm 16:7.
b. the LORD [Strong: 3068 * Yhovah from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]
c. always [Strong: 8548 tâmîyd, taw-meed'; from an unused root meaning to stretch; properly, continuance (as indefinite extension); but used only (attributively as adjective) constant (or adverbially, constantly); elliptically the regular (daily) sacrifice:—alway(-s), continual (employment, -ly), daily, (n-)ever(-more), perpetual.]
d. before me [Strong: 5048 neged, neh'-ghed; from H5046; a front, i.e. part opposite; specifically a counterpart, or mate; usually (adverbial, especially with preposition) over against or before:—about, (over) against, × aloof, × far (off), × from, over, presence, × other side, sight, × to view.]
2. “…because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”
a. because [Strong: 3588 kîy, kee; a primitive particle (the full form of the prepositional prefix) indicating causal relations of all kinds, antecedent or consequent; (by implication) very widely used as a relative conjunction or adverb (as below); often largely modified by other particles annexed:—and, (forasmuch, inasmuch, where-) as, assured(-ly), but, certainly, doubtless, else, even, except, for, how, (because, in, so, than) that, nevertheless, now, rightly, seeing, since, surely, then, therefore, (al-) though, till, truly, until, when, whether, while, whom, yea, yet.]
b. [he is at my] right hand [Strong: 3225 yâmîyn, yaw-meen'; from H3231; the right hand or side (leg, eye) of a person or other object (as the stronger and more dexterous); locally, the south:— left-handed, right (hand, side), south.]
c. [I shall] not [Strong: 1077 bal, bal; from H1086; properly, a failure; by implication nothing; usually (adverb) not at all; also lest:—lest, neither, no, none (that...), not (any), nothing.]
d. [be] moved [Strong: 4131 môwṭ, mote; a primitive root; to waver; by implication, to slip, shake, fall:—be carried, cast, be out of course, be fallen in decay, × exceedingly, fall(-ing down), be (re-) moved, be ready, shake, slide, slip.]
