The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

1. “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup…”

a. LORD [3068 * Yhovah] [Strong: from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

1). This word is used to refer to the physical and spiritual inheritance of Israel. The Hebrew word is translated “part” in the following verse.

a). Numbers 18:20 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
