1. “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup…”

a. LORD [3068 * Yhovah] [Strong: from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

b. [is the] portion [Strong: 4490 mânâh, maw-naw'; from H4487; properly, something weighed out, i.e. (generally) a division; specifically (of food) a ration; also a lot:—such things as belonged, part, portion.]

c. [of mine] inheritance [Strong: 2506 chêleq, khay'lek; from H2505; properly, smoothness (of the tongue); also an allotment:—flattery, inheritance, part, × partake, portion.]

1). This word is used to refer to the physical and spiritual inheritance of Israel. The Hebrew word is translated “part” in the following verse.

a). Numbers 18:20 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

d. [of my] cup [Strong: 3563 kôwç, koce; from an unused root meaning to hold together; a cup (as a container), often figuratively, a lot (as if a potion); also some unclean bird, probably an owl (perhaps from the cup-like cavity of its eye):—cup, (small) owl.]

2. “…thou maintainest my lot.”

a. thou [Strong: 859 ʼattâh, at-taw'; or (shortened); אַתָּ ʼattâ at-taw'; or אַת° ʼath, ath; feminine (irregular) sometimes אַתִּי ʼattîy, at-tee'; plural masculine אַתֶּם ʼattem, at-tem'; feminine אַתֶּן ʼatten, at-ten'; or אַתֵּנָה ʼattênâh, at-tay'-naw; or אַתֵּנָּה ʼattênnâh, at-tane'-naw; a primitive pronoun of the second person; thou and thee, or (plural) ye and you:—thee, thou, ye, you.]

b. maintainest [Strong: 8551 tâmak, taw-mak'; a primitive root; to sustain; by implication, to obtain, keep fast; figuratively, to help, follow close:—(take, up-) hold (up), maintain, retain, stay (up).]

b. [my] lot [Strong: 1486 gôwrâl, go-rawl'; or (shortened) גֹּרָל gôrâl; from an unused root meaning to be rough (as stone); properly, a pebble, i.e. a lot (small stones being used for that purpose); figuratively, a portion or destiny (as if determined by lot):—lot.]
