Genesis 25:8

Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

a. NLT: and he died at a ripe old age, having lived a long and satisfying life. He breathed his last and joined his ancestors in death.

b. NIV: Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people.

1. “Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age…”

a. Abraham [85 * ‘Abraham] [Strong: contracted from 1 and an unused root (probably meaning to be populous); father of a multitude; Abraham, the later name of Abram:--Abraham.]

b. gave up the ghost [1478 * gava` gaw-vah' a primitive root; to breathe out, i.e. (by implication) expire:--die, be dead, give up the ghost, perish.]

c. died [4191 * muwth] [Strong: a primitive root: to die (literally or figuratively); causatively, to kill:--X at all, X crying, (be) dead (body, man, one), (put to, worthy of) death, destroy(-er), (cause to, be like to, must) die, kill, necro(-mancer), X must needs, slay, X surely, X very suddenly, X in (no) wise.]

2. “…an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.”

d. to his people [5971 * `am] [Strong: from 6004; a people (as a congregated unit); specifically, a tribe (as those of Israel); hence (collectively) troops or attendants; figuratively, a flock:--folk, men, nation, people.]

1). Though the death of Abraham is recorded here in these verses, he was still alive at 160 years old when Jacob and Esau were born.

a). Genesis 25:24-26 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25:25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. 

2526 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

2). If Isaac was 60 at their birth, then Abraham was 160 because he was 100 years older than Isaac.
