Luke 19:42
Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
a. ASV: Saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
b. YLT: Saying -- 'If thou didst know, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things for thy peace; but now they were hid from thine eyes.

Classic Amplified: Exclaiming, Would that you had known personally, even at least in this your day, the things that make for peace (for [j]freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin and upon which your peace—your [k]security, safety, prosperity, and happiness—depends)! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
1. “Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day,
a. k. day [Strong: 2250 hēméra, hay-mer'-ah; feminine (with G5610 implied) of a derivative of ἧμαι hēmai (to sit; akin to the base of G1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):—age, +alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.
1). This a perfect example where something was the will of God but because of their ignorance they did not know it. But this ignorance is is according to their own will. They choose to be ignorant. They are willingly ignorant. Another example is found in 2 Peter.
a). 2 Peter 3:1-10 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2). Institute of Creation Research Daily Devotional 10/8/12: The Lord had finally acknowledged to the Jewish leaders that He was their promised Messiah, riding into the city on a donkey's colt in fulfillment of prophecy (Zechariah 9:9; Matthew 21:1-7), but they refused to accept Him and prepared to crucify Him. Therefore, Jesus wept over the city, for He knew it would soon be destroyed "because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation" (Luke 19:44). There are many other cases of such tragic ignorance in the Bible. For example, "Samson . . . wist not that the Lord was departed from him" (Judges 16:20), and it cost him his great strength and finally his life. The ungodly sinners in the days of Noah "knew not until the flood came, and took them all away" (Matthew 24:39). Of the northern kingdom of Israel, it was said: "Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not" (Hosea 7:9). These "strangers" were the pagan Canaanites who had turned the people away from the true God. Is not this also a real danger facing many church and para-church organizations of the end times, typified by the church at Laodicea? The Lord says to such churches, "I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Revelation 3:16-17). May God deliver each of us from tragic ignorance of our need before Him. We should pray with the psalmist, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23-24). HMM
3). In the book of Daniel, the angel Gabriel gave to daniel an exact timetable for when the Messiah would appear in Israel.
a). Daniel 9:24-26 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
b). Some scholars have done the math and have determined that it adds up to the day of when Jesus rode the donkey through the streets of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. This becomes a heavier statement as we hear the last words of Jesus in this passage.
2. “...the things which belong unto thy peace…”
