Luke 19:44
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

1). Israel did not know the time of the Messiah because of their spiritual blindness. Israel was in a willingly ignorant state because of their sin. It deadened or dulled their spiritual senses. The Amplified says it best.
a). 2). Spiritual blindness can affect us just as it did to Israel.
