Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

1. “Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers…”

2. “...and for the praise of them that do well.”

1). We are to be obedient to the ruling authorities unless they order us to sin against God.
a). Romans 13:1-7 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
13:2 So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.
13:3 For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.
13:4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.
13:5 So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.
13:6 Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
13:7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
2). Unless it violates our relationship with God.

3). We are also to pray for them that it will go good for us and have the opportunity to share the gospel.
a). 1 Timothy 2:1-8 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
b). Jeremiah 29:7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
