Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

1. “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ…”

a. Simon [Strong: 4826. Sumeon soom-eh-one' from the same as 4613; Symeon (i.e. Shimon), the name of five Israelites:--Simeon, Simon.]

b. Peter [Strong: 4074. Petros pet'-ros apparently a primary word; a (piece of) rock (larger than 3037); as a name, Petrus, an apostle:--Peter, rock.]

c. [a] servant [Strong: 1401. doulos doo'-los from 1210; a slave (literal or figurative, involuntary or voluntary; frequently, therefore in a qualified sense of subjection or subserviency):--bond(-man), servant.]
