2 Peter 3:8

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

1. “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years…”

n. [a] thousand [Strong: 5507. chilioi khil'-ee-oy plural of uncertain affinity; a thousand:--thousand.]

o. years [Strong: 2094. etos et'-os apparently a primary word; a year:--year.]

2. “...and a thousand years as one day.”

1). This is an allusion to a verse in Psalm 90.

a). Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2). It is used in relation to the longsuffering of the Lord in regards to saving the lost. His desire that none be lost, but all be saved.

a). 2 Peter 3:8, 9 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
