And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

1. “And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth…”

a. b. [for] lights [Strong: 3974 ma'owr maw-ore' or maor {maw-ore'}; also (in plural) feminine mpowrah {meh-o-raw'}; or morah {meh-o-raw'}; from 215; properly, a luminous body or luminary, i.e. (abstractly) light (as an element): figuratively, brightness, i.e.cheerfulness; specifically, a chandelier:--bright, light.

c. [in the] firmament [Strong: 7549 raqiya` raw-kee'-ah from 7554; properly, an expanse, i.e. the firmament or (apparently) visible arch of the sky:--firmament.]
