1. “And the evening and the morning were the third day.”

a. [And the] evening [Strong: 6153 `ereb eh'-reb from 6150; dusk:--+ day, even(-ing, tide), night.

b. [and the] morning [Strong: 1242 boqer bo'-ker from 1239; properly, dawn (as the break of day); generally, morning:--(+) day, early, morning, morrow.]

c. were [Strong: 1961 hayah haw-yaw a primitive root (Compare 1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary):--beacon, X altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, + follow, happen, X have, last, pertain, quit (one-)self, require, X use.]

d. [the] third [Strong: 7992 shliyshiy shel-ee-shee' ordinal from 7969; third; feminine a third (part); by extension, a third (day, year or time); specifically, a third-story cell):--third (part, rank, time), three (years old).]

e. day [Strong: 3117 yowm yome from an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours), whether literal (from sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next), or figurative (a space of time defined by an associated term), (often used adverb):--age, + always, + chronicals, continually(-ance), daily, ((birth-), each, to) day, (now a, two) days (agone), + elder, X end, + evening, + (for) ever(-lasting, -more), X full, life, as (so) long as (... live), (even) now, + old, + outlived, + perpetually, presently, + remaineth, X required, season, X since, space, then, (process of) time, + as at other times, + in trouble, weather, (as) when, (a, the, within a) while (that), X whole (+ age), (full) year(-ly), + younger.]

1). The Hebrew day begins at evening and ends the following day at evening. This principle can be followed all through Scripture.

2). Every aspect of creation, down to the design and creation of the seed is designed with the redemption of man by Christ as its centerpiece.

a). John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

b). Henry M. Morris, Many Infallible Proofs, p.236:  This is the first mention in the Bible of seed, the marvelous mechanism by which God assures the continuance of each form of life after its kind. Each organism whose seed is in itself is a mute but eloquent witness against the age long scientific belief in “spontaneous generation” and transmutation of species.” Modern genetic research, with its amazing insights into the preprogrammed “genetic code” of each organism, (the intricately structured molecular system which is designed to transmit hereditary ‘information’ and to assure the continuance of the specific kind), has strongly confirmed, though unwillingly, this primeval divine injunction.
