2 Peter 1:9

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

1. “But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off…”

a. But [Strong: 1063. gar gar a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. [he] that [Strong: 3739. hos hos, including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]

c. lacketh [Strong: 3361. me may a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas 3756 expresses an absolute denial); (adverb) not, (conjunction) lest; also (as an interrogative implying a negative answer (whereas 3756 expects an affirmative one)) whether:--any but (that), X forbear, + God forbid, + lack, lest, neither, never, no (X wise in), none, nor, (can-)not, nothing, that not, un(-taken), without. h. [and] cannot see afar off [Strong: 3467. muopazo moo-ope-ad'-zo from a compound of the base of 3466 and ops (the face; from 3700); to shut the eyes, i.e. blink (see indistinctly):-- cannot see far off.]

1). The sense of sight he is referring to is not the physical sense of sight, but the spiritual sense of sight.

f. old [Strong: 3819. palai pal'-ahee probably another form for 3825 (through the idea of retrocession); (adverbially) formerly, or (by relatively) sometime since; (elliptically as adjective) ancient:--any while, a great while ago, (of) old, in time past.]

g. sins [Strong: 266. hamartia ham-ar-tee'-ah from 264; a sin (properly abstract):--offence, sin(-ful).]
