1). The reaction on the community to what Christ did for them is incomprehensible. This formerly demon possessed man and who terrorized them for a long time, was delivered, fully clothed and in his right mind. From here on in he would no longer terrorize them, and their response to the one who did it is: they prayed that Jesus would leave the area. On the contrary, the man who was delivered “prayed” that he could be with Jesus, what a contrast.
2). According to Blue Letter Bible: The KJV translates Strong's G3870 in the following manner: beseech (43x), comfort (23x), exhort (21x), desire (8x), pray (6x), intreat (3x), miscellaneous (4x), variations of 'besought' (1x).
3). It is the same Greek word used in Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
