1. “And they removed from the Red sea…”

a. [And they] removed [Strong: 5265 naca` naw-sah' a primitive root; properly, to pull up, especially the tent-pins, i.e. start on a journey:--cause to blow, bring, get, (make to) go (away, forth, forward, onward, out), (take) journey, march, remove, set aside (forward), X still, be on his (go their) way.]

b. [in the] wilderness [Strong: 4057 midbar mid-bawr' from 1696 in the sense of driving; a pasture (i.e. open field, whither cattle are driven); by implication, a desert; also speech (including its organs):--desert, south, speech, wilderness.]

c. [of] Sin [Strong: 5512 Ciyn seen of uncertain derivation; Sin the name of an Egyptian town and (probably) desert adjoining:--Sin.

A casual look at Exodus 16 and 17 makes it appear they went from here by the Red Sea to Rephidim, but looking at Numbers 33, they moved here to the Wilderness of Sin (Numbers 33:11), from the Wilderness of Sin to Dophkah (Numbers 33:12), then from Dophkah to Alush (Numbers 33:13), and from Alush to Rephidim (numbers 33:14, moving four times between here by the Red Sea and Rephidim.

33:12 And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

33:13 And they departed from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.

33:14 And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.

2). This first move from Elim is included in Exodus 17:1.

b). The four moves are included in the phrase “from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim”.
