Exodus 23:28

And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

a. ASV: And I will send the hornet before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

1. “And I will send hornets before thee…”

a. b. hornets [Strong: tsirʻâh, tsir-aw'; from H6879; a wasp (as stinging):—hornet.]

2. “...which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.”

1). Here the LORD says that He will drive them out, but in Exodus 23:31 it says that Israel would drive them out.

a). Exodus 23:31  And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

b). Even in the Old Covenant there was a co-laboring in the Covenant. God had his part and Israel had their part. It is the same in the New Covenant.

2). In the New Covenant there is a co-laboring together in the Covenant. God has His part and we have ours.

a). 2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

b). 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

c). Colossians 1:28, 29 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
