Matthew 15:3

 Matthew 15:3

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

a. ASV: And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

1. “But he answered and said unto them…”

a. But [Strong: 1161 dé, deh; a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:—also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).]
b. T.]

2.  “...Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?”

a. Why [Strong: 1302  diatí, dee-at-ee'; from G1223 and G5101; through what cause ?, i.e. why?:—wherefore, why.]
b. [do] you [Strong: 5210  hymeîs, hoo-mice'; irregular plural of G4771; you (as subjective of verb):—ye (yourselves), you.]

d. transgress [Strong: 3845 parabaínō, par-ab-ah'-ee-no; from G3844 and the base of G939; to go contrary to, i.e. violate a command:—(by) transgress(-ion).]

k. tradition [Strong: 3862 parádosis, par-ad'-os-is; from G3860; transmission, i.e. (concretely) a precept; specially, the Jewish traditionary law:—ordinance, tradition.]

1). The Apostle Paul warned in the epistle to the Colossians that erroneous philosophies and traditions of men can and will take you captive. It will capture your soul, your thought processes and. Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Philosophies, traditions of men that teach against the word of God have captured and continue to capture millions even in the church. One need only look at the philosophies or traditions of men concerning evolution, abortion, homosexual behavior and the list goes on. Whatever tradition that goes against the word of God must be rejected.
