e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: Shoham stones and stones for the settings for the Ephod and the Breastplate.

1. “Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.”

a. Onyx [Strong: 7718 shôham, sho'-ham; from an unused root probably mean to blanch; a gem, probably the beryl (from its pale green color):—onyx.]

b. stones [Strong: 68 ʼeben, eh'-ben; from the root of H1129 through the meaning to build; a stone:— carbuncle, mason, plummet, (chalk-, hail-, head-, sling-) stone(-ny), (divers) weight(-s).]

c. [and] stones [Strong: 68 ʼeben, eh'-ben; from the root of H1129 through the meaning to build; a stone:— carbuncle, mason, plummet, (chalk-, hail-, head-, sling-) stone(-ny), (divers) weight(-s).]

d. [to] be set [Strong: 4394 milluʼ, mil-loo'; from H4390; a fulfilling (only in plural), i.e. (literally) a setting (of gems), or (technically) consecration (also concretely, a dedicatory sacrifice):—consecration, be set.]

e. [in the] ephod [Strong: 646 ʼêphôwd, ay-fode'; rarely אֵפֹד ʼêphôd; probably of foreign derivation a girdle; specifically the ephod or highpriest's shoulder-piece; also generally, an image:—ephod.]

f. [and for a] breastplate [Strong: 2833 chôshen, kho'-shen; from an unused root probably meaning to contain or sparkle; perhaps a pocket (as holding the Urim and Thummim), or rich (as containing gems), used only of the gorget of the highpriest:—breastplate.]

2). This whole passage of Exodus 25:1-9 is instructing the Israelites to collect and offering of materials to build the Tabernacle and everything in it.

a). Exodus 25:1-9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
3 And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass,
4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
5 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,
6 Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
7 Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
9 According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

3). There is no question that they received all this material from the Egyptians when they left. When the exodus was prophesied to Abraham, the LORD told him that the nation would leave with great substance. And it was also told to Moses.

a). Genesis 15:14.

b). Exodus 3:20-22

c). Exodus 12:33-36

4). The offering that they received from the Israelites included so much material that they kept giving that moses had to tell them to stop.

a). Exodus 36:1-7
