Isaiah 50:3

Genesis 50:3

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

a. ASV: And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of embalming: and the Egyptians wept for him threescore and ten days.

b. YLT: And they fulfil for him forty days, for so they fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians weep for him seventy days.

1. “And forty days were fulfilled for him…”

2. “...for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed…”

3. “...and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.”

c. for him [Strong: 853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).]

d. threescore [Strong: 7657 shibʻîym, shib-eem'; multiple of H7651; seventy:—seventy, threescore and ten (+ -teen).]

1). The 77 days of mourning, 70 days here and ten in Canaan Genesis 50:10, is the longest period of mourning mentioned in the Bible. One that I believe will be greater will be the one when Jesus Christ is revealed to Israel as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10-14).
