When they had heard the king,
they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them,
till it came and stood over where the young child was.
a. NLT: After this interview the wise
men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to
Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child
was.
b. NIV: After they had heard the king,
they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of
them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
c. Young’s Literal Translation: And
they, having heard the king, departed, and lo, the star, that they did see in

1). The inspired writer of Matthew
establishes that jesus at this time was not an infant but a young child.
