Genesis 39:7

And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

1. “And it came to pass after these things…”

a. 1). After what things? Joseph was sold to Potiphar. Potiphar was a an officer in Pharaoh’s administration, and he was a eunuch, a male who had been castrated, yet he was married. Because of the favor of God on Joseph’s life, Potiphar placed Joseph in charge of all his affairs. Joseph was also a very handsome man. Add these things together and we have a formula for trouble.  

2. “...that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.”

a. [that his] master’s [Strong: 113 'adown aw-done' or (shortened) adon {aw-done'}; from an unused root (meaning to rule); sovereign, i.e. controller (human or divine):-- lord, master, owner.]

b. wife [Strong:802 'ishshah ish-shaw' feminine of 376 or 582; irregular plural, nashiym {naw-sheem'}; a woman (used in the same wide sense as 582):--(adulter)ess, each, every, female, X many, + none, one, + together, wife, woman. Often unexpressed in English.]

c. cast [Strong: 5375 nasa' naw-saw' or nacah (Psalm 4 : 6 (7)) {naw-saw'}; a primitive root; to lift, in a great variety of applications, literal and figurative, absol. and rel. i. with [me] [Strong: 5973 `im eem from 6004; adverb or preposition, with (i.e. in conjunction with), in varied applications; specifically, equally with; often with prepositional prefix (and then usually unrepresented in English):--accompanying, against, and, as (X long as), before, beside, by (reason of), for all, from (among, between), in, like, more than, of, (un-)to, with(-al).]

1). This would be a hard temptation in any man. Joseph’s response is truly  a godly one that every man should desire the grace of God to obey.
