And the people came up out of
Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in
the east border of Jericho.
a. NLT: The people crossed the Jordan on the tenth
day of the first month. Then they camped at Gilgal, just east of Jericho.
b. NIV: On the tenth day of the first month the
people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of
Jericho.
c. YLT: And the people have come up out of the
Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity
east of Jericho;

1). Commentary Jamieson-Fausset-Brown: that is, the month Nisan, four days before
the passover, and the very day when the paschal lamb required to be set apart,
the providence of God having arranged that the entrance into the promised land
should be at the feast.
2. “…and encamped in Gilgal…”

anticipation, for it was so named after this for a reason given (Joshua 5:9).

Jericho.”
