Joshua 5:11

And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.

a. NLT: The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land.

b. NIV: The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain.

1. “And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover…”

b. of the old corn [Strong: 5669 * `abuwr aw-boor' the same as 5668; passed, i.e. kept over; used only of stored grain:--old corn.]

c. of the land [776 * 'erets eh'-rets from an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land):--X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X natins, way, + wilderness, world.]

d. on the morrow [Strong: 4283 * mochorath mokh-or-awth' or mochoratham (1 Sam. 30:17) {mokh-or-aw- thawm'}; feminine from the same as 4279; the morrow or (adverbially) tomorrow:--morrow, next day.]

e. [after] the Passover [Strong: 6453 * pecach peh'-sakh from 6452; a pretermission, i.e. exemption; used only techically of the Jewish Passover (the festival or the victim):--passover (offering).]

2. “…unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.”

a. unleavened cakes [Strong: matstsah mats-tsaw' from 4711 in the sense of greedily devouring for sweetness; properly, sweetness; concretely, sweet (i.e. not soured or bittered with yeast); specifically, an unfermented cake or loaf, or (elliptically) the festival of Passover (because no leaven was then used):--unleaved (bread, cake), without leaven.]

b. and parched [corn] [Strong: 7033 * qalah kaw-law' a primitive root (rather identical with 7034 through the idea of shrinkage by heat); to toast, i.e. scorch partially or slowly:--dried, loathsome, parch, roast.]

c. in the selfsame [Strong: 6106 * `etsem eh'tsem from 6105; a bone (as strong); by extension, the body; figuratively, the substance, i.e. (as pron.) selfsame:--body, bone, X life, (self-)same, strength, X very.]
