Luke 16:30



Luke 16:30

And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

a. NLT: “The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’

b. NIV: “ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

c. YLT: And he said, No, father Abraham, but if any one from the dead may go unto them, they will reform.

d. Amplified Bible Classic: But he answered, No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent (change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins).

e. Worrell Translation: But he said, ‘Nay, father Abraham; but, if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.

f. Wuest Translation: But he said, By no means, father Abraham, but if someone from those who are dead would come to them, they will repent.

1. “And he said, Nay, father Abraham…”

2. but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.”

i. they will repent [Strong: 3340 metanoeo met-an-o-eh'-o from 3326 and 3539; to think differently or afterwards, i.e. reconsider (morally, feel compunction):--repent.]
