Ephesians 2:18

Ephesians 2:18

For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

a. NLT: Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

b. NIV: For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

c. YLT: Because through him we have the access -- we both -- in one Spirit unto the Father.

d. Amplified Bible Classic: For it is through Him that we both [whether far off or near] now have an introduction (access) by one [Holy] Spirit to the Father [so that we are able to approach Him].

e. Worrell Translation: Because through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

f. Wuest Translation: Because through Him we have our entrée, the both of us, by one Spirit into the presence of the Father.

g. Peshitta Eastern Text: Through him we both are able to draw near by one Spirit to the Father.

1. “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”

a. For [Strong: 3754 hoti hot'-ee neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

b. through [Strong: 1223 dia dee-ah' a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional):--after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) ... fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.]

1). What must be stated is that Jews as well as Gentiles are included into the Covenant.

a). Acts 13:38, 39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Spirit [Strong: 4151 pneuma pnyoo'-mah from 4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind.]

j. unto [Strong: 4314 pros pros a strengthened form of 4253; a preposition of direction; forward to, i.e. toward (with the genitive case, the side of, i.e. pertaining to; with the dative case, by the side of, i.e. near to; usually with the accusative case, the place, time, occasion, or respect, which is the destination of the relation, i.e. whither or for which it is predicated):--about, according to , against, among, at, because of, before, between, (where-)by, for, X at thy house, in, for intent, nigh unto, of, which pertain to, that, to (the end that), X together, to (you) -ward, unto, with(-in). l. Father [Strong: 3962 pater pat-ayr' apparently a primary word; a "father" (literally or figuratively, near or more remote):--father, parent.]

1). All mankind is under indictment and all mankind is offered salvation in Christ Jesus.

a). Romans 3:9-26 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

9:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
9:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
9:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
9:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
9:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
9:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
9:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
