Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

a. YLT: The wives! to your own husbands subject yourselves, as to the Lord,

b. RSV: Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord.

c. ASV: Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

d. Darby Translation: Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord,

1. “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.”

a. Wives [Strong: 1135 gynḗ, goo-nay'; probably from the base of G1096; a woman; specially, a wife:—wife, woman.]

b. submit yourselves [Strong: 5293 hypotássō, hoop-ot-as'-so; from G5259 and G5021; to subordinate; reflexively, to obey:—be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto.]

c. unto [your] [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

d. own [Strong: 2398 ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).

e. husbands [Strong: 435  anḗr, an'-ayr; a primary word (compare G444); a man (properly as an individual male):—fellow, husband, man, sir.]

f. as [Strong: 5613 hōs, hoce; probably adverb of comparative from G3739; which how, i.e. in that manner (very variously used, as follows):—about, after (that), (according) as (it had been, it were), as soon (as), even as (like), for, how (greatly), like (as, unto), since, so (that), that, to wit, unto, when(-soever), while, × with all speed.]
