Ephesians 4:25

Ephesians 4:25

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.

a. NLT: So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.

b. NIV: Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

c. YLT: Wherefore, putting away the lying, speak truth each with his neighbour, because we are members one of another;

d. Amplified Bible Classic: Therefore, rejecting all falsity and being done now with it, let everyone express the truth with his neighbor, for we are all parts of one body and members one of another.

1. “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor…”

a. Wherefore [Strong: 1352 dio dee-o' from 1223 and 3739; through which thing, i.e. consequently:--for which cause, therefore, wherefore.]

b. putting away [Strong: 659 apotithemi ap-ot-eeth'-ay-mee from 575 and 5087; to put away (literally or figuratively):--cast off, lay apart (aside, down), put away (off).]

c. lying [Strong: 5579 pseudos psyoo'-dos from 5574; a falsehood:--lie, lying.]

d. speak [Strong: 2980 laleo lal-eh'-o a prolonged form of an otherwise obsolete verb; to talk, i.e. utter words:--preach, say, speak (after), talk, tell, utter.]

e. every man [Strong: 1538 hekastos hek'-as-tos as if a superlative of hekas (afar); each or every:--any, both, each (one), every (man, one, woman), particularly.]

f. truth [Strong: 225 aletheia al-ay'-thi-a from 227; truth:--true, X truly, truth, verity.]

i. neighbor [Strong: 4139 plesion play-see'-on neuter of a derivative of pelas (near); (adverbially) close by; as noun, a neighbor, i.e. fellow (as man, countryman, Christian or friend):--near, neighbour.]

1). One of the pieces of the armour of God is truth in our lives.

a). Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

2. “…for we are members one of another.”
