Ephesians 5:33

Ephesians 5:33

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

a. YLT: But ye also, every one in particular -- let each his own wife so love as himself, and the wife -- that she may reverence the husband.

b. ASV: Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.

c. Darby Translation: But ye also, every one of you, let each so love his own wife as himself; but as to the wife I speak that she may fear the husband.

1. “Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself…”

d. [she] reverence [Strong: 5399 phobéō, fob-eh'-o; from G5401; to frighten, i.e. (passively) to be alarmed; by analogy, to be in awe of, i.e. revere:—be (+ sore) afraid, fear (exceedingly), reverence.]

e. her [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

f. husband [Strong: 435 anḗr, an'-ayr; a primary word (compare G444); a man (properly as an individual male):—fellow, husband, man, sir.]
