Ephesians 5:24

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

a. YLT: But even as the assembly is subject to Christ, so also are the wives to their own husbands in everything.

b. RSV: As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

c. ASV: But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.

d. Darby Translation: But even as the assembly is subjected to the Christ, so also wives to their own husbands in everything.

1. “Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ…”

a. Therefore [Strong: 235 allá, al-lah'; neuter plural of G243; properly, other things, i.e. (adverbially) contrariwise (in many relations):—and, but (even), howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, no, notwithstanding, save, therefore, yea, yet.]

b. as [Strong: 5618 hṓsper, hoce'-per; from G5613 and G4007; just as, i.e. exactly like:—(even, like) as.]

e. is subject [Strong: 5293 hypotássō, hoop-ot-as'-so; from G5259 and G5021; to subordinate; reflexively, to obey:—be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto.]

f. unto Christ [Strong: 5547 Christós, khris-tos'; from G5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:—Christ.]

2. “…so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.”

a. so [let] [Strong: 3779 hoútō, hoo'-to; adverb from G3778; in this way (referring to what precedes or follows):—after that, after (in) this manner, as, even (so), for all that, like(-wise), no more, on this fashion(-wise), so (in like manner), thus, what.]

b. f. own [Strong: 2398 ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).]

g. husbands [Strong: 435 anḗr, an'-ayr; a primary word (compare G444); a man (properly as an individual male):—fellow, husband, man, sir.]

i. everything [Strong: 3956 pâs, pas; including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:—all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), × daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.]
