1 Samuel 15:3
Now go
and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not;
but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
a. Saul was commanded
to kill everything, including the infants and even the animals. This command
was to be the fulfillment of what God had spoken hundreds of years earlier when
Israel came out of Egypt.
1). Exodus 17:1-16 And
the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it
in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek
from under heaven.
And Moses built an
altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
For he said, Because
the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to
generation.
