Genesis 42:2-5

Genesis 42:2-5

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

a.    Some Bible scholars believe that Joseph was on the lookout for his brothers to eventually come before him for the following reasons. Joseph knew that his dreams were prophetic and knew that eventually his brothers would come before him. He also knew that it was God’s will for them to be reunited, but the last time he saw them they hated him enough to kill him, but settled on selling him into slavery. So there had to be a change in feelings before there was a reunion.
