Sound Doctrine
Today as most everyone is in news media is letting us
know, homosexual marriage is on the docket at the Supreme Court today. Just in
the last couple of weeks, a former President, five current Senators and one
former Senator and Secretary of State all lined up in support of homosexual
marriage. No doubt it is all an attempt to influence the Justices at the Court.
The emergence of the homosexual movement in our day
and all the inroads it has made in both secular and church cultures including
decriminalization, the attempt to remove it’s immoral stigma, creating laws
protecting the behavior, and challenging the God designed institution of
marriage is infallibly linked to the last days apostasy warned of in the Bible
by Jesus, the Prophets, the Apostles and the epistles of Paul. As we watch the
Supreme Court wrestle with the definition of marriage, we are watching
prophetic events played out before our eyes.
The Apostle Paul wrote in his first epistle to Timothy:
1Timothy 1:9-11 [NIV] "We know that the law is good if one uses it
properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for
lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for
those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually
immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and
perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms
to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to
me." In that passage Paul writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
that laws that forbid homosexual behavior among other sins are "sound
doctrine". He also says those same laws, laws that forbid homosexual
behavior, "conform to the gospel of the blessed God." That is quite a
mouthful but that is exactly what it says, laws that forbid homosexual behavior
are sound doctrine! Ten years ago in
2003 the Supreme Court struck down all state laws criminalizing homosexual
behavior so we know we are on that route.
In 2 Timothy 3:1through 2Timothy 4:4 Paul warns of the
apostasy that will come upon the church in the last days. In 2 Timothy 3:16-
4:4 [KJV] he writes, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works. I charge thee therefore before God,
and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his
appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of
season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the
time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own
lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they
shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” Paul
writes that the time would come when those in the church would not "put up
with sound doctrine". They will not
put up with laws that forbid homosexual behavior but would gather around
teachers who say what they want to hear, they will turn away from the truth and
instead listen to the fables, myths and fairly tales these teachers are saying.
I would be curious to know how many in our churches believe that male or female
homosexuality is a sexual orientation? In Romans 1:26 Paul does not refer to
women having sex with women and men having sex with men as a "sexual
orientation", he calls it a “lust", which gives more clarity to what
Paul warned in 2 Timothy 4:3 [KJV] "after their own lusts shall they heap
to themselves teachers having itching ears." According to Scripture the so
called science surrounding sexual orientation is a myth. There is no doubt we
are watching prophetic events. Do you want a sign that Jesus is coming soon?
You are watching one unfold before your eyes!
