1 Timothy 5:5

Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

a. ASV: Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, hath her hope set on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

1. “Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God…”

b. she that [is] [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

c. [a] widow [Strong: 5503 chḗra, khay'-rah; feminine of a presumed derivative apparently from the base of G5490 through the idea of deficiency; a widow (as lacking a husband), literally or figuratively:—widow.]

d. indeed [Strong: óntōs, on'-toce; adverb of the oblique cases of G5607; really:—certainly, clean, indeed, of a truth, verily.]

f. desolate [Strong: 3443 monóō, mon-o'-o; from G3441; to isolate, i.e. bereave:—be desolate.]

g. trusteth [Strong: elpízō, el-pid'-zo; from G1680; to expect or confide:—(have, thing) hope(-d) (for), trust.

i. day [Strong: 2250  hēméra, hay-mer'-ah; feminine (with G5610 implied) of a derivative of ἧμαι hēmai (to sit; akin to the base of G1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):—age, +alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.]
