Hebrews 9:1

Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

a. ASV: Now even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, a sanctuary of this world.

  

b. YLT: It had, indeed, then (even the first tabernacle) ordinances of service, also a worldly sanctuary,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: Now even the first covenant had its own rules and regulations for divine worship, and it had a sanctuary [but one] of this world.

1. “Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service…”

a. Then [Strong: 3767 oûn, oon; apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:—and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

b. verily [Strong: 3303  mén, men; a primary particle; properly, indicative of affirmation or concession (in fact); usually followed by a contrasted clause with G1161 (this one, the former, etc.):—even, indeed, so, some, truly, verily. Often compounded with other particles in an intensive or asseverative sense.]

c. the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

d. first [covenant] [Strong: 4413 prōtos, pro'-tos; contracted superlative of G4253; foremost (in time, place, order or importance):—before, beginning, best, chief(-est), first (of all), former.]

e. had [Strong: 2192 échō, ekh'-o; a primary verb; to hold (used in very various applications, literally or figuratively, direct or remote; such as possession; ability, contiuity, relation, or condition):—be (able, × hold, possessed with), accompany, + begin to amend, can(+ -not), × conceive, count, diseased, do + eat, + enjoy, + fear, following, have, hold, keep, + lack, + go to law, lie, + must needs, + of necessity, + need, next, +recover, + reign, + rest, + return, × sick, take for, + tremble, + uncircumcised, use.]

2.  “...and a worldly sanctuary.”
