Hebrews 5:3

Hebrews 5:3

And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

a. ASV: And by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
  
b. YLT: And because of this infirmity he ought, as for the people, so also for himself to offer for sins;
d. Amplified Bible Classic: And because of this he is obliged to offer sacrifice for his own sins, as well as for those of the people.
1. “And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself…”

a. And [Strong 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

2.  “...to offer for sins.”

a).  Mark Bowling: “Now onto what you said about Jesus being perfected through sufferings. Jesus was perfect. He never sinned once. So that passage always stuck out to me. But in the context of the book of Hebrews, it's referring to Jesus being perfected as our High Priest. He could not be a perfect High Priest unless He could relate to our struggles, temptations, weaknesses, etc. Once He experienced all of that without sinning, He could be a perfect High Priest. Wonderful what He has done for us!”
