1 Timothy 6:15

1 Timothy 6:15

Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

a. ASV: Which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

1. “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate…”

a. Which [Strong: 3739 hós, hos; probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:—one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]
b. [in] his [Strong: 2398 ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).]
c. times [Strong: 2540 ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).]
d. [he] shall shew [Strong: 1166 deiknýō, dike-noo'-o; a prolonged form of an obsolete primary of the same meaning; to show (literally or figuratively):—shew.]
e. who [is] [Strong: 3588 ho, ho; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):—the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]
  
f. [the] blessed [Strong: 3107 makários, mak-ar'-ee-os; a prolonged form of the poetical μάκαρ mákar (meaning the same); supremely blest; by extension, fortunate, well off:—blessed, happy(X -ier).]

g. and [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]
h. only [Strong: 3441 mónos, mon'-os; probably from G3306; remaining, i.e. sole or single; by implication, mere:—alone, only, by themselves.]
i. Potentate [Strong: 1413 dynástēs, doo-nas'-tace; from G1410; a ruler or officer:—of great authority, mighty, potentate.]
  
2. “...the King of kings, and Lord of lords;”

a. the [Strong: 3588 ho, ho; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):—the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]
b. King [Strong: 935 basileús, bas-il-yooce'; probably from G939 (through the notion of a foundation of power); a sovereign (abstractly, relatively, or figuratively):—king.]
c. [of] kings [Strong: 936 basileúō, bas-il-yoo'-o; from G935; to rule (literally or figuratively):—king, reign.]
d. and [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]
e. Lord [Strong: 2962 kýrios, koo'-ree-os; from κῦρος kŷros (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; by implication, Master (as a respectful title):—God, Lord, master, Sir.]
  
g. [of] lords [Strong: 2961 kyrieúō, ko-ree-yoo'-o; from G2962; to rule:—have dominion over, lord, be lord of, exercise lordship over.]

1). Though this phrase is used in the Old Testament to refer to mere human leaders (Ezra 7:12; Ezra 26:7; Daniel 2:37) , in the New Testament it is referring to Christ Jesus our Lord and King.
a). Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

b).Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
