Exodus 2:12

Exodus 2:12

And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

a. NLT: After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand.

b. NIV: Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

c. YLT: and he turneth hither and thither, and seeth that there is no man, and smiteth the Egyptian, and hideth him in the sand.

d. Amplified Bible:  He looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

e. Septuagint: And having looked round this way and that way, he sees no one; and he smote the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

a. 2. “…and when he saw that there was no man…”

d. in the sand [2344 * chowl] [Strong: from 2342; sand (as round or whirling particles):--sand.]

1). The book of Acts defines it a little different. The Egyptian was oppressing the Jew so Moses defended him and then killed the Egyptian.
