1). One of the fascinating things of the plight of these young Jewish men, and in particular here with Daniel. After being brought to Babylon they were thrown together with some of the most repulsive groups of people to Jewish faith. These people were devil worshippers, they consulted with demon powers to find out things. Notice the list, astrologers, magicians, and soothsayers. These were some of the most abhorrent behaviors to the Jewish people.

a). Deuteronomy 18:9-12 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

2). In his explanation to the king, Daniel clearly distances himself from the groups he has been thrown in with, and gives the glory to the God that Daniel worships.

a). Daniel 2:27-30 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;
2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
2:29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
2:30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
