Matthew 3:14
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

1. “But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee…”

1). John knew who he was and what his calling was. God spoke to him that he was to be the forerunner of the Messiah.
