Acts 13:42
And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the
Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
a. NLT: As
Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak
about these things again the next week.
b. NIV: As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the
synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the
next Sabbath.
c. YLT: And having gone forth out of the synagogue of
the Jews, the nations were calling upon them that on the next sabbath
these sayings may be spoken to them,

1. “And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue…”

The King James translation is the only major translation that has “the Jews” in
the text. As shown above, all the other translations do not have it, but
rephrase it another way.
c. were gone [Strong: 1826 * exeimi ex'-i-mee
from 1537 and eimi (to go); to issue, i.e. leave (a place), escape (to the
shore):--depart, get (to land), go out.]
d. out of [Strong: 1537 * ek ek or ex ex
a primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence action or motion
proceeds), from, out (of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct
or remote):--after, among, X are, at, betwixt(-yond), by (the means of),
exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for(- th), from (among, forth, up), +

e. the synagogue [Strong: 4864 * sunagoge soon-ag-o-gay'
from (the reduplicated form of) 4863; an assemblage of persons; specially, a
Jewish "synagogue" (the meeting or the place); by analogy, a
Christian church:--assembly, congregation, synagogue.]
2. “…the Gentiles besought that these words might be
preached to them the next sabbath.”

from 3844 and 2564; to call near, i.e. invite, invoke (by imploration,
hortation or consolation):--beseech, call for, (be of good) comfort, desire,

nominative or accusative case neuter plural of 3778; these things:--+
afterward, follow, + hereafter, X him, the same, so, such, that, then, these,

of Hebrew origin (7676); the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or day of weekly repose

extension, a se'nnight, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the
plural in all the above applications:--sabbath (day), week.]
1).Can you imagine any better words these Gentiles
could have heard? They were by conviction already seeking the God of the Jews,
Those who walked in the fear of God as Gentiles. Now they hear they their
believing in the Messiah Jesus would bring them forgiveness, justification, and
freedom. Yes, they wanted to hear more!
