Hebrews 6:11


Hebrews 6:11

And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

1. “And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence…”

a. desire [1937 * epithymeo][Thayer: to set one’s heart upon, to have a desire for.][Vine: to fix the desire upon, whether good or bad, to lust.]

b. shew [1731 * endeiknymi][Thayer: to point out, to show, demonstrate, prove, whether by arguments or by acts, to manifest, display, put forth

c. diligence  [4710 * spoude] [Zodhiates: to speed, urge, hasten, press, earnestness, zeal.

1). A derivative of this Greek word is used in 2 Timothy for the word “study”.

a). 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew theyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

d. He wants us to manifest the same effort as before.

2. “…to the full assurance of hope unto the end.”

a.    full assurance [4136 * plerophoria] [Zodhiates: perfect certitude, full conviction, equivalent to confirmation.]
