Genesis 24:24

Genesis 24:24

And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.

a. NLT: “I am the daughter of Bethuel,” she replied. “My grandparents are Nahor and Milcah.

b. NIV: She answered him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milkah bore to Nahor.”

c. YLT: And she saith unto him, 'I am daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, whom she hath borne to Nahor.'

d. Amplified Bible Classic: And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah and [her husband] Nahor.

e. Septuagint: And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bathuel the son of Melcha, whom she bore to Nachor.

c. Bethuel [1328 * Bthuw'el beth-oo-ale' apparently from the same as 1326 and 410; destroyed of God; Bethuel, the name of a nephew of Abraham, and of a place in Palestine:--Bethuel.]

e. Milcah [4435 * Milkah] [Strong: a form of 4436; queen; Milcah, the name of a Hebrewess and of an Israelite:--Milcah.]

f. which she bare [3205 * yalad] [Strong: a primitive root; to bear young; causatively, to beget; medically, to act as midwife; specifically, to show lineage:--bear, beget, birth((-day)), born, (make to) bring forth (children, young), bring up, calve, child, come, be delivered (of a child), time of delivery, gender, hatch, labour, (do the office of a) midwife, declare pedigrees, be the son of, (woman in, woman that) travail(-eth, -ing woman).]

g. unto Nahor [5152 *  Nachowr] [Strong: from the same as 5170; snorer; Nochor, the name of the grandfather and a brother of Abraham:--Nahor.]

1). The more complete lineage is listed earlier in genesis.

a). Genesis 11:27-29 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
11:28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
11:29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

b). Abraham and Nahor were brothers, which made Milcah, Abraham’s niece. Milcah and Lot were brother and sister and they had another sibling named Iscah.
